 | Students will design and create jewelry in brass, copper & silver. Basic metal skills: sawing, filling, sanding, texturing, roller printing, soldering, and polishing will be taught. As well as forming techniques, patinas, cold connection & bezel set stones. |

 | Have fun creating beautiful images by using very simple tools. You will start your ink wash by tracing your drawing lightly with a pencil and going over it with ink, switching between pen and brush. This technique creates images that are both pleasing and rewarding. |

 | Learn to really use your digital camera and enhance your computer skills. We will introduce Adobe Bridge and Photoshop as well. Students should bring their digital camera, cable, manual and any accessories to the first class. |

 | | 4:00pm - 6:00pm (#8120A) OR 6:30pm - 8:30pm (#8120B) | This class is intended for High School age students who wish to expand their fine art portfolio prior to applying to college art programs. Contemporary art making practices and the visual arts provide a context through which to examine students’ interest in 21st century themes such as culture, global awareness, and identity. Printmaking, painting, drawing, mixed media techniques, and visual archiving are introduced and practiced in this course. Students are required to keep a sketchbook for weekly assignments, critiques, and portfolio reviews.  | Learn the traditional jeweler’s technique of lost wax casting. In the lost wax process, molds are made from carved wax or found objects, and the mold cavity is filled with molten silver, bronze or gold alloys. Beautiful and delicate details can be obtained because the mold is spun at high speed and centrifugal force pushes the metal into the nooks and crannies of the mold. Create one-of-a-kind original jewelry. |

 | Students will learn a variety of printmaking techniques w/ both wheel thrown and hand built ceramic forms. The class will focus on silk screening, woodcuts, mono prints, and etching / carving in clay. (Class fee includes $25 for clay, glazes and firing). |
