Painting and Drawing Studio: Intermediate & Advanced (#8233)9:00am - 12:00pm
For students w/previous painting or drawing experience, further investigate skills such as brushwork, color theory, composition, glazing, mixed media, and photo transfers. Use oil or acrylic paint, and/or all drawing media while developing your own style.

If you want to a change from a technical photography course, but like the motivation and support of a class, Professional Practices is for you. Class includes instructor presentation, review of historical and contemporary photographers, 1 on 1 guidance and group input on building your photography portfolio. Students should bring most recent works to first class.

Ceramics - Hand Building and Tile Making (#8237)9:30am - 12:00pm
Learn to make beautiful hand built vessels and functional tiles using various techniques. Instruction will cover carved relief, intaglio printing, mold making, the use of stamps and glazing and finishing techniques as well as beginning ceramic techniques to create fun and functional pieces (clay, glazing, firing fee included).

Field Trip Photography (#8234)9:30am - 12:30pm
10 Week Class: Sept. 15th - Nov. 17th
Take your Digital Photography into the field and practice with a professional photographer at some of the most exciting destinations in the Chicago Metro area. We may visit Grant Park, Navy Pier, Bahai Temple, Adler Planetarium, Matthiessen State Park and more. There will be 5 field trips and 5 classroom sessions to heighten and improve your photographic abilities on and after each trip. Come for the fun and take the next step up with your digital camera. Teacher will notify students prior to 1st of all locales.

Shibori with Natural Dyes on Silk (#8235)9:30am - 12:30pm
Let’s make lovely images on silk with natural dyes applying Shibori resist technique. Cooking to extract natural materials, (e.g. madder, cutch, logwood, cochineal) mordant processes will be introduced. Over dyeing and use of different mordant (e.g. alum, tannin, iron) create a wide range of hues. Lovely colors, patterns appear magically.

In this class you'll create photo books that will showcase your work or tell a story while we explore easy ways to print and share your work. This is a class for students who are interested in learning the language, theory, and artistic principals of motion pictures. Students will learn the practices of photography and Mise en Scene, film type classifications, symbolism, editing, the cinema of Hitchcock, sound, music, story and writing,acting and directing. This interactive class will begin with weekly discussions and then the viewing of a feature film on the lectured topic.

Evening Life Drawing and Painting Studio (#8247)7:00pm - 9:00pm
Life drawing has long been the cornerstone of artistic training. This class focuses on drawing the human form using in-class observation from live models. The human figure presents many technical challenges in line, tone, perspective, composition, form, structure and more. This class allows each artist to display their skills while receiving guidance and instruction on ways to perfect their art form and also provides an overview of the drawing process in relation to rendering the human figure through a variety of techniques and materials. Limited materials supplied. Includes weekly live model fee.
